How it works

Private balances, explained in a minute.

Zeronym is a shielded pool for tokens, live on Robinhood Chain. Tokens go in publicly, move privately inside the pool, and come out publicly when you are done. That is the whole idea.

Mainnet1 minute read

01The idea

Public in and out. Private in between.

On a normal blockchain, every balance and payment is visible to anyone. Zeronym adds a private zone: once tokens are inside the pool, they are stored as encrypted notes that only your keys can read.

Going in · public

Anyone can see who deposited, which token and how much.

Inside the pool · private

Balances, payments and vaults are encrypted. Outsiders only see that something happened.

Coming out · public

Withdrawals are visible again, like any normal transfer.

02Step by step

Five actions. Each with a clear limit.

Pick a step to see what it does, what others can see and what stays hidden.

Step 1 of 5

Shield

Deposit a supported token. Inside the pool it becomes encrypted notes that only your keys can read.

Others can see
Your address, the token, the amount and the time.
Hidden
The notes it creates and who controls them.
Keep in mind
The token issuer can still freeze or block the token itself.

Step 2 of 5

Organize

Group shielded funds by purpose, such as trading or savings. Vault names live on your device, not on the chain.

Others can see
That a pool transaction happened, and when.
Hidden
Vault names, balances and which vault holds what.
Keep in mind
Vaults keep you organized. They do not add extra privacy on their own.
More about organize in the docs →

Step 3 of 5

Send

Pay another shielded address. A zero-knowledge proof shows the payment is valid without revealing who, or how much.

Others can see
That a pool transaction happened, and when.
Hidden
Who sent it, who received it and how much.
Keep in mind
The person you pay sees the details, as with any payment.
More about send in the docs →

Step 4 of 5

Disclose

Share a single receipt with an auditor, a client or a tax adviser. Everything outside that receipt stays encrypted.

Others can see
Nothing new goes on the chain.
Hidden
All your other payments and vaults.
Keep in mind
A shared receipt cannot be taken back.
More about disclose in the docs →

Step 5 of 5

Withdraw

Send funds from the pool to any normal address when you are done.

Others can see
The receiving address, the token, the amount and the time.
Hidden
Which of your notes paid for it.
Keep in mind
If the amount or timing matches your deposit, someone could guess they are linked.
More about withdraw in the docs →

Swaps inside the pool and shared treasuries are coming soon. Each will get its own contracts and review before it goes live.

03The limits

Private, not invisible. Know the difference.

Zeronym does not make you anonymous. It hides what happens inside the pool, while the edges stay public.

  • Hidden inside the pool

    • Who paid whom
    • How much was sent
    • Your balance and vaults
    • Your payment history
  • Still public

    • Deposits: address, token, amount, time
    • Withdrawals: address, token, amount, time
    • That a pool transaction happened, and when
    • Your IP address, to the services your app connects to
  • Can weaken your privacy

    • Unusual, one-of-a-kind amounts
    • Withdrawing soon after depositing
    • Few people using the pool
    • A hacked device or a leaked key
